The Essay & Supplement Intensive
Focused, hands-on support for seniors who are ready to write, but need guidance getting the essay and supplements completed.
Some families don't need full application support. They need one thing: help making sure the main essay and the supplements actually sound like their student, and actually says something true.
While this work is more compressed, it starts with the same question underneath everything Alan does: what does this student actually want a reader to understand about them? Once that's clear, the writing gets easier, and what follows is guidance through drafts until the essay and supplements reflect that clarity.
This work is for students who:
Have the bulk of their application finished, but are struggling with completing their main essay.
Need focused guidance on writing supplements and how to make sure they form a cohesive story.
Don't need full application management, just support with the main essay
What’s Included
Initial brainstorming/topic exploration session (personal essay).
2 rounds of feedback and revision on the personal essay (draft review + coaching conversation each round).
Supplemental essay guidance, scaled to your student's actual list.
Final polish/read-through of the complete essay set before submission.
Sessions and timeline are fine-tuned for each student — a short list with light supplements looks different from a longer list or a school with more substantial requirements (some schools ask for robust supplemental writing closer to a second personal statement).
Typically 5-7 sessions, depending on scope, each roughly 60 minutes.
In addition to session time, this includes Alan's work between sessions — reading drafts, providing notes, and preparing feedback ahead of each conversation.
Investment
The investment for the Essay & Supplements Intensive is priced according to each student’s individual needs, starting at $2,250.
Supplement workloads vary widely — both in the number of schools on a student's list and in how demanding the questions are.
